Do we have a slideout problem?

We have a 3700RL with the double slides on opposite walls in the living/kitchen area. Both sides operate with a single switch on the control panel. We've noticed that the last couple of times that we've closed the slides that the lower rear corner of the right slide that contains the dinette and sofa gaps by about a half inch. The gap extends upward about a foot The top has retracted tight as are the front end of that slide and all four corners of the slide on the other side. Both slides extend full and properly. Do we have a problem?

Is it maybe because the sheet metal skirting in that area isn't molded to present a flush appearance with the slide? Just guessing here...

When I had my slide problem before leaving florida where neither would work, when I did get the stuck solenoid to release...we id several extend/retract sequences. One of those wasn't normal with a gap at the bottom front of the dining slide. I really believe that it was a fluid thing as I went added some Catepillar anti-stiction fluid since we were doin several cycles. And it hasn't done the gap thing again so far. I would say to add some fluid if you still have room and are below the top full line when everything is retracted. What can it hurt? Here's hoping both of us don't see this again. John

I was going to add, since the slide is kept square by the two "tubes within tubes" where you see the teeth on the bottom of them, is that I fail to see how these slides can work flawlessly every time...even though they are coupled together by the square bar you see (very small bar) due to friction of the tube within a tube. Metal on contact with metal is going to have a friction effect. Try lifting the corner where the gap shows when the slide is coming in. My guess is that the gap goes away and may not show again. Again, what you got to lose? John

We've been keeping the slide out racks and pinions and the piston lubed with the spray for that purpose. Even so, it's still metal on metal as you say. We're sure the fluid is at the correct level, but will double check. More testing is now on the agenda.

Sometimes that can be a symptom of something small caught in the bottom of the slide when it closes. Folks have found dog and cat toys and other things caught in there.

The only time I noticed my slides not extending or retracting in a square fashion, I was fortunate to find the battery was almost dead. I had my slide disconnect so the converter didn't charge my battery. I put a battery charger on it and it started working again. Just my experience, this might not be your problem. But do check the battery voltage, that it's over 12.6 volts.
