Thought I'd bring this topic back up in light of the tornado in Florida for those of us who still don't have a weather radio - good information -

We have ours on the nightstand every night, turned on, no matter where we are. Just remember (as pointed out earlier) to be sure that you actually know what county you are in. Knowing surrounding counties is also helpful. The alerts always mention the county names--and if you are cluless, you are clueless. The alert radio won't be much good to you though unless you have a plan about what to do if it should sound. So part of setting up camp each night should be a quick survey for emergency shelter.

Hi,

After being in Florida during the tornado storms, we also are buying a Hazard Radio. Did some looking on the internet and in some stores and found a website:dogbytecomputer.com, that carries Oregon Scientific WR103-S (WR103NX) Hazard Radio w/adapter for $24.00. The most expensive of this model was $59.99. So, we decided to order it and give it a try.

Hope we don't have to use it, and if we do hopefully it will protect us.
