Hi All,

I just purchased a 3931 FB. I noticed when the front a/c is on it blows thru the entire coach as does the rear a/c. So the issue is when the wife goes to bed and cranks down the front bedroom a/c I freeze in the rear living area. I seen these vent open/close and do not know what they are. Tried them but they go right back to the screen you see in the pic no matter where I set them. Was not sure what they are for and surprised I can not block front a/c from blowing thru all ducks thru out coach. Anyone have any ideas.

As far as I know, there is no simple way to block one AC from using the entire duct system. You can buy replacement supply vents that close, but then you have to get up there and open them before the other AC comes on or you'll probably freeze one or both of the units up.

The newer Monty's have "Raceway" ducting for the AC. I don't believe there is any way to block the flow front to back since it's an open system.. The system is designed to move air throughout the entire coach from either AC. It's purpose is to maxmize cooling from dual AC's when it's really hot out. It's also designed to cool the entire coach with a single AC since the 2nd AC is an option.

What Dick said makes the most sense in being able to select which vents you want open. But, as he said, that will be a pain to manage though not impossible.

Dick was also correct when he said one unit can freeze the other one up. This has been a continuing problem for me, but it only happens when I run the fans in auto mode. The work around to prevent freeze ups is to run the fans on high all the time. As for your original question, I don't know any way to split the system. Louvers that shut off are probably the simplest solution.

Man, I may want to keep my 305RL - I have a selector on the bedroom AC that allows most of the air to come in the Master. I trading, will have to investigate closely

I'm guessing if you want to separate them, block the duct in the bathroom (living room side). Then block the duct in the hallway above the stairs.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with the duct work. It's designed to work as installed and interfering with that can have consequences. And, when the temperature outside supports it, I only wanted/needed to run one unit to cool the entire coach.


My DW would tell me to get a blanket or put on more clothes.


Is there a compromise? Would she let you turn the bedroom thermostat down when you come to bed???

I have a 2013 3402RL and in the bedroom there are louvers on the ceiling that allow me to set how much of the air is pushed directly in to the bedroom and how mush is sent through the rest of the venting. The more sent to the bedroom, the less there is to send to the living area.
