Ram 3500 DRW mileage

I did a mileage check. In town driving, 3/4 of it towing the 5er, and it hand calculated to 10.6 mpg. Would anyone care to venture a guess what I might expect towing on the highway at 60 mph? I know there's a of variables like up/down grades, wind, etc, but any ballpark figures?

You're pulling a little more weight than I am. I would imagine you would get marginally better mileage on the road. Do you use any additives in your truck to reduce friction/increase mileage?

Check this stuff out

I just started adding Diesel Kleen Cetane booster to the fuel. Other than that, no.

Just sent you a PM. You might consider the Quantum Coat. It's a one and done solution that addresses internal friction as well as the full injector system. I spent a lot of time researching before I decided to use it but it does seem to work. It's not cheap but it's only once.

I'm also thinking about adding it to my tranny as well as trailer wheel bearings.

Dave we get between 9.5 and 11.5 MPG when towing at 70 MPH. Head/tail wind and elevation changes have the biggest impact on the numbers. I would say you will be in the 9 - 11 MPG range running at 60 MPH. That's just a guess though.

2015 Ford F-250 diesel, 9.5-12. I also have a deflector on my truck (it only helps with bugs, not mpg) I have found that towing in wind has the biggest effect. You always have a head wind no matter what direction you drive LOL

Ram 3500 with 4.10 gears pulling the camper, 10.5 average at 65 MPH.
Keep an eye on your Tire pressure and drive that right foot like you were stepping on an egg...

2015 F350 SRW get an average of 10.5 on a long trip. That’s 9 towing and maybe 16 around town. But like others have said wind and mountains make a big difference.

And yes I also find it’s uphill both ways.

So when budging for a trip is use 8 mpg and fuel at $3.85 per gal.

First time pulling our 374fl to the lake and back.
Refueled on return, and got 14.7 mpg with our 2002 Ford F350 and a Banks powered 7.3l.
I'm happy !!

Some of your mpg in town depends on what kind of 'town' driving. Mostly freeways around town - or 2 and 4 lane streets with lights every 1/2 mile or mile??
I only get around 15-17 (depending on how light I am on the accelerator) in town withOUT towing. I get 11 mpg towing at 62 mph - unless it is absolutely no wind and perfectly level when I get 11.5-12mpg.

None of these comparisons are really valid, just to many variables. Wind, terrain, weather, speed, altitude, weight, driving style, ect. Not to mention how each of us figures their mileage, computer, hand calculated, could you see the fuel in the filler neck each time? Suffice it to say that when towing you should average between 9 and 12mpg.
