Tear on awning over slide outs

I was washing my camper today and noticed a small tear in the awning over one of my slide outs. The tear was about an inch and a half long.. The camper is only a little over 4 years old.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair this or keep from tearing any more?

Perhaps this?

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-42613-A.../dp/B004XNQLB2

or

Or the Handyman special ... duct tape!

I think that regardless of which tape you get, prepping the surface is the most important thing.

Had that happen on are old 5er had a branch fall on it. I fixed like you would fix a tent with heavy dotty needle and thread still like new sold 5er to my neighbor.

Camco tape will work as will the heavy duty Gorilla clear tape. My 2007 has several small tears and holes and the Camco and Gorilla tape have held up fairly well. You may need to redo every couple of years but a lot cheaper than a new awning and repair is hard to see. I do mine every couple of years as we are seasonal and the sun will degrade it over time.

I'm in the process of installing toppers. During my pro/con research found that many folks are only getting very few years from the fabic, particularly in hot areas of the US. Lots of souces sell replacement material - Makrios was advertising a sale this past week plus with a Dometic there are insructions on how to do the job as a DIYer.

OK - with that said, that Camco tape is a good solution if they are otherwise in good shape
