Wheel simulators for Ram 3500

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but here goes...

When I got the dually stems put on our Ram 3500 DRW, they found that some of the plastic holding tabs were broken on both of the OEM plastic covers on the front wheels (which is why they were loose).

Then when I got home I found that one of the rear ones now has a scrape on the "chrome" and the white plastic is showing underneath, so I am going to just replace all four simulators.

I can get replacement plastic simulators for about $225 with shipping here: https://www.rvautoparts.com/IWCN8010..._p_312968.html

But I can get stainless steel simulators by Pacific Dualies for $265 from Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002L9J0JU...v_ov_lig_dp_it

It'd be crazy to go with plastic over SS, right?

Does anyone have experience with the stainless steel simulators from Pacific Dualies?

Thanks.

I can't speak for or against the PD brand but if it were me I would absolutely go with a SS simulator.

I would save $ and be happy with plain black wheels - it's a truck.

I have had to replace mine before and the plastic is junk. I don't allow the tire shop to reinstall the simulators because the plastic tabs break very easily. I'm glad this subject was brought up and I think I will buy me a set of these stainless steel simulators. Thanks for the info.

I have stainless steel ones on my Motor Home. They are still in perfect shape after 12 years.

Southwestwheel.com. I've bought aluminum wheels off of them for years. My work trucks are 2005 to 2018. 3500 to 5500 Chevy & Dodges. Never had a problem with my wheels on work trucks. Buy them once then done. Can't afford break downs.

I would go with the SS simulator. When I ordered my truck I got the polished aluminum wheels. I now regret it. Nothing but headaches when I buy new tires. Had 2 wheels damaged by tire shops. I can't find a tire shop that takes the care and not damage wheels. The scratch them with the impact gun or when the drop the lug nuts or socket on them. I'm just tired of it. Seriously thinking about swapping to steel wheels with simulators
