Spare Tire

I started getting everything ready for our first trip out this year, this coming weekend. As I was airing up the tires on 5er and Silverado, I decided I better check spare on truck. Have not checked it since I bought truck. The spare tire was at 30#'s. Not good. Aired up to proper PSI, so truck is now ready.

I now have spare tire check on my check list I do before leaving.

OK, who will admit they just went out and checked spare tire pressure? Or, am I the only one who never checked it?

Well I can for sure say I have never checked the spare tire pressure on either the truck or the coach. Thanks for the heads up. I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

The wife has an 04 Toyota 4Runner. Last fall when the temps began dropping the "low tire pressure" alarm came on. I checked all 4 tires and found them to be about 2 lbs. low and aired them up to correct pressure. A couple days later, the alarm was back. I had negelected to check the spare and the system monitors it also. I don't have any idea how it monitors the tire pressure, but it will let you know in a hurry if you have a low tire. We all are probably guilty of ignoring the spare. Thanks for the reminder.

Well with my years in the tire business I know better than to not check the spare.

Well at least that is what most peolple would think.

I'll be checking my spare first thing tomorrow.

I'll be just a little smug and say that I do indeed check my spare....now and then. For the cases where I don't, that is why I carry an air compressor.

Better yet bring the spare down You don't want to find out on the road the winch that keeps it up there is rusted up and siezed.

Gruffy makes a good point about lowering the spare tire occassionally. I check the air pressure in the truck and Monty spare every couple of months but have never wound them down.
