Mor/ryde pin box

While winterizing the camper yesterday I noticed the king pin appeared to be bent back. I put a square up against the bottom plate and pin and sure enough there's about 1/4" gap between the square and bottom edge of the pin. What worried me the most was that it looked like the pin had actually pulled out of the plate on the front side. I decided to take the plate off to look at the welded side but didn't see anything wrong.. I did a quick search to see if anyone had ever posted this type of problem but didn't come across any. You can see a couple of photos in the johns photo link.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it appears to be a factory defect. Measure from the plate to the top of the first shoulder, front and back and I'll bet you'll measure a 1/4" difference. In other words, it doesn't look like the pin base was cut square before it was welded to the plate.

Not quite a 1/4" but close. Having the trailer for 4 years I'm pretty sure it wasn't always this way. The paint on the plate around the back side of the pin is flaking up which Leads me to believe its moved. Think I'm going to contact Morryde and see if they're willing to take a look, maybe sent it to them.

I called Mor/ryde just a few minutes ago. After looking at some pictures briefly they took my address and will be sending a new lower skid plate assembly today, no charge. Thank you Mor/ryde for the quick response and very courteous service!
