Micro/Convection Heating Problem Not Solvable
I shared at the Ladies Tips and Tricks session last week that the High Pointe Micro/Convection Ovens in our newer rigs do not heat up correctly to get to the correct temperature. They are at least 50 degrees cooler than the temp you set. I.E. - To get 350 degrees, you have to set convection to 400 - 425 degrees plus let it heat an additional 10 minutes after the beep alerts you it is preheated. You also have to rotate the food at least halfway through to prevent things from burning. That means we will never be able to cook anything in the convection oven that requires a temperature over 375 degrees.
I called High Pointe today to ask if there is a calibration we could do to improve it. Nick said NO. He wasn't very sympathetic. There is nothing we can do to make it better. He said he'd send me out a new oven BUT Keystone gave me a new one at our rally and it still does the same thing. So I told him "No". Guess we are stuck with a poor quality product.
I hope a Keystone/Montana rep reads this post and will suggest to Keystone to put in a better quality brand.

I recently installed an over the range whirlpool M/W/ convection oven from Lowe’s, $385. Standard size fit perfect, no modifications necessary to include venting.
Wife and I deinstalled/installed in 30 minutes. Option to consider if you use a M/W heavily. Door latch failed on the original unit.

The High Pointe in our Montana works just fine. Been using it full-time since late October 2017 and hasn't burned/under cooked anything yet. No complaints with ours!

Thanks for this information. I have wondered about this before especially the part about vent alignment in case I might need a new unit.

Hello, do you happen to know the model number of the Whirlpool you installed?
Thank you,

Model number is hard to read, believe WM1132518HZ, The venting internal to the M/W can be set for straight out or up out ventilation setups. However, what you need to do, is take the measurements of your existing M/W, very carefully, and do a search online for MWs with those same measurements. Different MW units differ. We were able to use the same mounting rail already installed at the wall, so that made it easy. Set the MW at an angle on the bottom rail, and lift forward, top is secured by bolts thru the cabinet on top of the MW. Lowes, Home Depot, Whirlpool.com have plenty of choices to choose from.

Thank you Mike and Lorraine for your quick reply. That'll get me pointed in the right direction.
Thanks again.
