What converter do I have?

I am having lights dim while on 50amp shore power. The converter fan kicks on everytime we turn on a light. When we lowered the landing gear they came down very slowly. We hooked up a charger on the batteries and had no more problems. Does this sound like the convertor? My next question, what convertor do I have? 2007 MM 329RLT. What is the wattage? Do I have a "smart charger"? I can't find any info from my owners manual. Thanks in advance.....

I have a 2006 Mountaineer 329RLS, it has a WFCO Model#: 8855 (55 amp) converter located behind the Power Center (the enclosure with your 120V Breakers, and 12v Fuses), it allegedly has "Three stage charging", it also has an "RCMS Interface" (Remote Charging Management System), that is NOT in use. Disconnect your battery, and check the 12V terminal lugs in the Power Center for Voltage Output should be around 13 volts.

As an afterthought to my previous reply, I recently helped a friend of mine with a similar problem Labor Day Week, he has a Jayco Travel Trailer, which was showing Converter/Battery problems, turned out he had TWO problems, his battery cells had run dry,, and the converter had gone bad (it was unable to provide the necessary voltage). I'm sure the problems were related, most likely the battery went dry first, and the converter failed trying to keep up with the demand. He ended up replacing both, with positive results...

***Make sure you check your battery fluid levels***

I have a WFCO in my 2007 327 Mountianeer. AS stated above check the water level in the battery.
