We currently tow our very heavily loaded (14,620 lbs on a CAT scale) 2007 3400RL with a 2007 Dodge 3500 Megacab shortbed single rear wheel diesel automatic with 3.73 rear axle. We have 30,000 miles on the truck and my log shows we have towed this Montana with this Dodge a total of 9,976 miles.
We previously (prior to June 2007) towed it with a 2005 Ford F250 crewcab shortbed single rear wheel diesel automatic with 3.73 axle. We put 85,000 on the truck but didn't keep a log on towing mileage for its entire life. I would estimate towing mileage at 30,000 to 35,000. This F250 had higher ratings than our 1 ton Dodge except the Dodge's GVWR is 100 lbs higher (10,100 vs 10,000). The F250 was slightly lighter overall than this Dodge 3500.
Both were excellent tow vehicles and I see no reason to go to anything bigger or heavier.

I tow my 2008 3400RL with a 2008 Ford F250 4WD Crew Cab SRW 6.4 Diesel with the built in brake controler. It does a great job pulling and stopping. The only problem I have is keeping it below 65mph on the freeway.

Pull, pull, pull, tow, tow, tow. All have nothing to do with the topic. Anybody that knows anything about 5th wheel towing (or any kind of towing) knows any diesel or any big block gasser pickup will pull and tow any Montana. The question is pin weight, pin weight, pin weight...and can the truck handle it.

Okay,we admit it - we've read so many articles about figuring towing capacity, etc., and are no wiser than when we started. So - gonna take another approach. Calling all 3400RL owners - what is your tow vehicle? We currently own Chevy'06 3500HD CC/8.1 Allison/4:10 and haul a 3000RK. Really would love to have this new 3400RL but truly don't want to have to buy new truck. Anyone out there using this truck with the 3400RL? If so, what is your experience?

As BillHoover says - back to the topic. I am towing with a GMC 2500HD Duramax/Allison 4x4 ext cab longbed.
Pin weight is the most critical. If you are already pulling a 3000RK, I believe the 3400RL has a LIGHTER pin weight. Many here on this forum are pulling a 3400 with less than what you have. Not defending that... Just telling you like it is.
Again, back on topic: My personal experience has been very good pulling our 2007 3400RL with my 2500HD D/A. Not sure who has a truck similar to yours (is yours a duallie or SRW?), but hopefully someone will pop up here.
