Although the auto on interior light feature in our 2014 Montana 5th wheel when you open the door is great, it also is odd that there are absolutely no light switches anywhere in the living area except in the control panel area. We are contemplating putting a manual light switch in so there is a more accessible way to turn lights on in the entry way from the inside. Has anyone done this? If so, would adding a switch into the existing system cause the auto light on feature to stop working?

I have a 2011 3150RL Montana ... there are several push button lights in the main slide and around the sink, but no light switch (other than the control panel)per say on the wall except in the very back by the rear window that turns on the overheads. It would be quite a task to string wire to turn on the overheads with an added wall switch unless you tapped into the door switch which I can't see would gain you anything since the master panel is near the door. I'm assuming the "auto light on" you talk of is still the button switch on the entry door screen frame.

We have a 2014 3100 5th Wheel. The switch to turn the living area overhead lights is behind the control panel door, which in the middle of the night can be difficult to see which switch is which.

Yep I have a 3735MK and mine is the same way it is a oversite by Montana, at night we just leave a light on in the kitchen and have a nite light in the bathroom to find our way around

Yeah, we have night lights too, but sometimes an external switch would be nice when coming from the bedroom to the living area at night

We have a 2014 3582RL. If we get up at night we turn on the hall light by the Comode door and it lights up the area in the kitchen enough to see. Once you learn what switch in the control panel turns on the lights it is not bad to just use the control panel. It did take some time to get use to. You definitely have to have the hall light on to see the control panel or have the front door open until you find the right switch.

We have discovered the same thing.

I wired in a remote control for one of my 120Volt lights, you could do the same and Velcro the remote control to the wall in a handy location. Easier than running a switch leg for a light.
