Getting around....scootering anybody?
We just sold the Gold Wing since we picked up the Montana....so downsizing a bit. Boss and I were wondering, any of you take along a scooter? What size seems to work for you? Favorite brand? Is it worth it? We would like one that would haul two, here or there, in town and out. Thanks, D

We carry 2 50cc scooters with us. One we put on the front of the truck on a rack, and the other we put on the back of the Montana 2955. We have the long bed Dodge 2500. We since have moved the scooter behind the Montan and was able to put it in the truck before we hook up the Montana and have plenty of room to safely turn. Have pics if you want to see the set up. PM me. We use the scooters just about everywhere we go as long as we are not on busy roads. The scooters weigh 130 lbs each.

We have a 1996 Yamaha Riva 125 which we have used for several years. With two of us on the scooter we can travel with reasonable comfort. If we plan on longer rides we found that by stopping every 45 minutes or so we feel better over time. With two of us on the scooter we can travel 40-45 MPH. Not fast but not a road hazard either.

Correction: simonsrf HAD a scooter that he hauled around. He had a slight problem with an errant tie-down that came loose, so now he stores the scooter (or what's left of it)at his brother's. I saw the scooter at Arches NP last year and it was nice.
Trying to talk the DW into getting one.

Robbie told me that he plans to repair the scooter but at the time it happened, he was enroute to a major get-to-gather (the Quartzsite Circle) and didn't want to delay his arrival. Good thing...without him and Alice doing what they do, the circle would not have been as great as it was.
Many thanks to them and the unnamed others that pitched in to help set up the circle.

We have 2 50 cc honda metro's that we run around small towns. Never on major fast traffic roads. We really enjoy them. Emailed the pic's of how we haul them to D.

Yes, we still have it, but have to do some repair work as stated above.
Whatever you get, be sure to step-up to buying a real good rack....and I might also add in retrospect.....double the tie downs.
We bought an aluminum rack...didn't hold up. We then purchased this one: VERSAHAUL This is a very nice rack with very little wobble while traveling.
We own a SYM HD 200. We are very pleased with the power and the fuel mileage.
