Tracks in the carpet...

The big livingroom slide on my 3000RK leaves tracks in my carpet. Mainly just on the front by the TV. I don't get any dirt or grease but just a nice crease where the slide comes in. Is this normal or is it out of adjustment. The slide moves in and out smoothly without problems. Is it something I can tackle or should it be left to the experts. I have never messed with the slide mechanics before. Thanks

Dave, I have the same problem with my 3295RK. The forward end of the main slide leaves a bad trail on my carpet. It is not as bad on the rear of the slide but I am tired of having to mess with it. Have you ever looked at the HTPE strip that runs length ways under the slide at the edge of the trailer? It is attached to the floor at the very edge and looks like it what the slide lands on when it goes out and drops flush to the floor. Mine has about a 3/16" gouge in it about 2" from the end and I can't figure out what is causing it. Hopefully someone will come alone with some answers that will help both of us out. I did try the slickers or what ever they are called but the did not work for me as they want to slide across the carpet to much.

Slide adjustments can be tricky. I have one slide that leaves tracks, and rather than mess with the adjustment since it seals perfectly open and closed, I have a strip of carpet 6" x 14" that I lay down on the track, which works just fine protecting the floor carpeting. Takes me all of 30 seconds before I close the slide.

Never tried to put anything down for it to ride up on. I figured if it was that tight it would just push it across the floor. I have a strip of carpet I lay there anyways maybe I will try and let it down and put the slide in. Mine too opens and closes nice and I didn't really want to mess with it or have someone else mess it up.

I had issues with the slickers until I figured out a little trick that works for me. Hopefully it will work for other models too.

I start the slide 'IN' process and let the slide move just an inch or so. Then I lift the rug and THEN I place the slicker down. That way the slide has lifted up out of it's cradle and is slightly raised before it completely lowers to the floor. That works great for the 3 that I use in the living room (2 on door side and 1 on off door side). One of my slides is over linoleum and the slickers have little pegs on the bottom that would do damage to it.

For the bedroom slide I let it come in more than an inch, look down and find where the wheels are going to be and I let the wheels run down the center of the slicker.

I am sorry that doesn't help you with your gouging problem. My carpet under the door side slide gets really matted down but it vacuums up pretty well.

Best of luck on figuring out your problem!

It hasn't start to dig into the carpet but does leave a crease and matts it down pretty good. I was really worried it might be a sign of things to come. I guess it will just have to be one more step in tearing down. So anyone using throw rugs to let it ride, has anyone every had it suck a throw rug out with it when you extend the slide?

I had the same problem.. but I solved it by taking the carpet out and put down vinyl plaking from Home Depot.. I still use the slickers down .. So far I have no damage to the vinyl floor. and it is much easier to clean..

Oh....maybe I could use the slicker then on the vinyl flooring! I will have to try it! I just saw the tips on the bottom and didn't want to ruin the floor!

I'm with Carol on the Slideout Slickers ... if you follow her advice, they work as advertised every time. If you just lay them in front of the slide and press the button, they will get pushed across the carpet almost every time.
