repacking wheel bearings

I will be repacking my wheel bearings after we get back from Door County in a few weeks. I have never done this in the Monty before. Is there anything different about them than normal trailers? Do you have to replace the inner seal and, if so, does anyone have a part number? I have the 6000 lb Dexter axles with the EZ Lube ( I guess they're called) greese fittings. Thanks. BR.

To properly repack the bearings, you need to remove them, wash them and repack, and replace the seals w/new.

Here is a link to my post about this.

I don't know for sure if the p/n is the same for the seals-try calling Dexter. If that fails, NAPA has a reference book that calls out the p/n for specific Dexter axles. If you buy frrom NAPA, be prepared for massive sticker shock!

Always replace the seals. Chances are you will damage them when you remove them, but even if you don't they are cheaper than replacing grease soaked brakes.
