Looks like a 2955 RL for us

We've been looking and looking and keep coming back to the 2955RL fifth wheel. I especially like the new front end with the mirror on the cap.

I've got a 2006 Dodge 2500 long bed with Cummins Diesel and Laramie package, so we're ready to travel some in the Montana this year. Our home in in Nashville and it will just be the two of us and our Westie.

Really looking forward to it if the weight police don't jump on me for having a 3/4 truck instead of a 1 ton.

Bob, I believe you will find that the "weight police" realy do not exist at MOC! Many of us are towing our Montanas with 3/4 ton trucks and are not experiencing any problems. Some of us have heavier pin weights than the 2955 and are doing well. If there are problems with sag, they can be offset by air bags. Steve Reigle (sreigle) can certainly add to this when he next logs on.

The 2955 is a wonderful model; if you order it, I have no doubt that you will enjoy it!

Remember their is a 3/4 and 3/4 HD. HD is what you need.

Welcome Bobneal. We have the 2955 and tow with a chevy 3/4 duramax as our signature indicates and we are within specs for the truck. Enjoy your new adventure and keep us posted!

Welcome Bob to the MOC family.

We too drag our 2955RL around with a 2500HD D/A and have no problems. Unlike the rest I can't say for sure if I am within the weight limits for my 2500 but either way it pulls the Monty AND MORE IMPORTANTLY stops the Monty just fine.

We too, as posted above by our friends, tow a 2955 with a 2500. It is a great combination. I would also say that we think you have made an excellent choice in the 2955RL. It really suits "travelers" such as we are.

Great choice, of course that's what we bought last September so perhaps I'm biased.

Congratulations on your new rig. Sounds like you really researched your decision. Here's hoping it performs beyond your expectations. I also pull with a 3/4-ton and am experiencing no problems. One big difference the 3/4-ton rides a little softer than the 1-ton. Since this is now our only vehicle that makes a difference to us. Happy RVing....

Thanks so much for your comments. My Dodge dealer and Montana dealer both said I'd be just fine, but after reading some of the stuff on RV.net, I became just a little concerned.

The truck should be delivered around the first of April and I'll start getting serious with the Montana dealer. He's already given me a decent price for one on the lot and I think I can get him down a little more.

We're looking forward to traveling in the Eastern US this year and hopefully going to Arizona around January (unless the Tennessee Titans go to the Super Bowl (yea sure)).

Oh, btw: what about Camp clubs like Good Sam? Any suggestions? I have a KOA directory and they seem to offer really nice sites. As a newby I'm especially interested in pull-through's.

You'll love that 2955RL, we love ours. We originally pulled it with an F250 Crew Cab with the 5.4 liter V8, we swapped for the beast that we have now to get a Diesel engine, it was the only one the dealer had.

Glad to have you join us. You will find the MOC to be alot of great information and a great family. As you can see by my picture I tow my 3400RL with a 2500HD, this truck does the job with ease. Enjoy the group...

With regard to RV clubs, I like Escapees. They have an array of sevices and special interest subgroups from which to choose. They lobby for RV issues. They have a care center for recovering members so that care services can be received in you own RV. Their magazine is interesting. They focus on fulltiming.

You might checkout Happy Camper Half Price Camping Club. They have agreements with camp grounds across America. There are others like Happy Camper also. I am sure a few names will show up and you will be able to access their websites and see if they fit your needs.

We have a 2002 2955RL and love it. We tow it with a 2004 Dodge 2500HD diesel with ease. The floor plan has remained very consistent over the years and it fits our needs very nicely. I hope you enjoy it.
