Question in-Command resetting

I have a 3921FB and have been full timing for about 4 months now. The in-command system as started resetting in the middle of pulling in the hydraulic slides. It reboots and then I can continue. It started as a random event but seems to be happening every time I retract the slides and has just started doing it when I extend them. I thought at first it was low battery power but it does the same thing if I leave the cord plugged into the tow vehicle. Any ideas?

Sounds like a power problem. Low 12 volts. Could be a loose or corroded battery connection or the power connection on the In Command system. If it only happens with the slides ,which slides. Hydraulic or electric? Either way the slide could be drawing too much current. Could be a bad connection on the slide.

You need to check the DC cable connection going from batteries to resettable breaker in battery compartment for the hyd slides... either you have a loose connection at the breaker or the breaker is too low of an amp rating..

Colder weather operation of hyd slides causes pump motor to draw increased current due to viscosity of the fluid.

If breaker is resetting due to excessive current draw I’d imagine this could cause the BCM on the in command to initiate reset

It only does it with the hydraulic slides. I'll take a look at connections this morning. Thanks

Locate the resettable breaker that goes from battery to hyd pump dual polarity solenoid. Put a finger on the breaker and have someone start to operate the slide. If resettable breaker pops you will feel a light click on your finger if it pops. It will reset itself in a few seconds ....

Excellent! I'll check it out on our next move tomorrow morning. If the resettable breaker is the issue does it just need to be replaced?

The problem is most likely your self resetting breaker. There has been a ton of discussion about this thing over the years. Replace it or upgrade to a larger version. The breaker is inexpensive and can be found at local auto parts stores.

Do a Search on self resetting breaker to learn more (much more). Here is a start on things to read - Clicky

I think you're right! Everything I've read points to the breaker.

Thanks

Yep, the cooler weather increases the amperage draw for the pump and the weak resetting breaker is just not cutting it. Lippert recommends the 80A auto resetting one as in cold weather the pump has been shown to draw up to 72A.
Here is the TSB and a number you can use to find one on Amazon.

INCommand

If replacing the circuit breaker does not fix the problem try calling the Customer Service line for ASA Electronics, the company that makes the end command unit. It is 877-845-8750. Their techs are helpful and happy to help with the information that is spot on. They will stay on the phone with you until you get the problem resolved.
If you need the engineering code to change any settings it is 5391.

This happened to me two days ago, when pulling in the slides. Seems like the entire 12v system would reset. Took six times of rebooting to pull in the slides, and yes, I was in below freezing weather. Once I returned to normal temperatures, everything was fine.
On another note, same trip but a little later in the day, I went to put the slides out temporarily, and could not disengage the in transit notification. There was no option to disable. I finally turned off battery power to the coach, then turned it back on, and voila! Back in service!

InCommand

I agree this is a computer and sometimes they just get out of sync. Disconnect shore power, disconnect the battery and activate something that draws DC power so the system is drained. Let it sit five minutes and it will re-boot. Good luck.

This subject has been discussed many times in his forum. My 2016 Montana with the iN·command system behaves similar. It is my understanding that it is a mother board issue in the bcm that reads the battery voltage as low. It is not a breaker issue. Until I can have it looked at I have found that if I actuate the hydraulic slides on battery power only ( shore power disconnected) I get low voltage alerts but the bcm does not disconnect.

Low Voltage BCM

Hi have you tried a software upgrade? Sometimes they fix issues like this via a software update. You can have a dealer do it if your not comfortable with it or a good IT person could do the upgrade very easily.

It may be, that. I’m waiting until I finish this trip I’m on to take it to The shop as recommended by Asa.

Thanks! Good info. I have a new 80A breaker in hand and will take it and trailer in tomorrow to see what they say. I'm trying a new service center due to the lack of talent at my dealer. Fingers Crossed.

When you upgrade to the 80 amp breaker does it require a wiring size upgrade or is the currently installed wiring sufficient? Thanks,

No it doesn't. The wire is large enough.
