Montana 3440RL Fireplace Issue

I am having an issue with the fireplace in our rig. Even when we turn off the heat the fan continues to blow on the heat setting. Have tried shutting it off at the breaker and trying a reset, but it came on with the fan and heat blowing.

Has anyone run into this problem before? Makes it mighty warm in the rig during the day. Any suggestions?

Steven,

Understand the fireplace fan runs all the time even after you try to turn it off? You might try pulling it out and cleaning it up. Otherwise I am not sure there are replaceable parts in the insert. An insert replacement is fairly inexpensive - around $200. The insert only has 4 screws and is easy to pull out.

With our Dimplex fireplace, the owners manual has a page that lists replacement parts. Not sure what model/make unit you have, but if you have or can download the manual, maybe parts are available. There is also a repair/maintenance manual that you can download.

Thanks for the info. I ordered replacement parts and will see if I can fix it. First I need to figure out how it comes out. Anyone have experience?

On our 380th, the front glass lifts off. No screws or anything other than gravity. Behind the glass are slots or holes in each corner with screws in each one. Total of 4. Take them out and the fireplace slides out to wards you. That’s it.

Yours may be different. Good luck.

Thumbs up Thanks for the help and advice from everyone.

Thanks. I just puled ours out to make sure it did not just need cleaning. Has 4 screws on the front then slides out. No dust or dirt inside so I ordered replacement parts based off the trouble shooting guide. Looks easy enough to replace the parts I ordered.

Thanks for the help and advice on this. Learning lots as I fix things as we go!

Some on this forum have reported Dimplex phone support has been very good. Even sent free parts in some cases. Even though you have already ordered parts it might be worth a call just for the technical support.

OP ,your post is a little confusing. Are you saying the fan continues to run when you turn the heat off. If so, that could be normal as a cool down period before the fan shuts off.

beeje. The fan and heat continues to run no matter what setting I use on the panel or with the remote. It finally stopped putting out heat and fan quit working as well. The fire effect works just fine. (not much help warming the rig).

I used the trouble shooting guide to find the most common cause and ordered some parts from Dimplex. They arrived at my Daughters house today so tomorrow I will attempt the repair.

Will let you all know how it comes out. Thanks for all the feedback.

Today I replaced the display/control board, the 4 key switchboard, and the heater/blower assembly. put it all back together, plugged it in ans still no heat or fan. Pulled it all back apart to double check the connections and found it all hooked up correctly. Still nothing.

I put a call into the tech support line but it was after hours and only was able to leave a message for a call back. Only good thing to come out of this so far is I know how to completely disassemble the fireplace and put it back together. Will post an update on progress after I hear from Dimplex.

Thanks for all your suggestions and encouragement on this issue. Its a learning experience. The feedback and information on this forum is invaluable.

I never use ours anyway. If camping in cold weather we always use a ceramic heater or sometimes 2 of them. One in the kitchen/LR and one in the bedroom.

We are never in extremely cold weather however the fireplace works well in moderately cold weather. It was in the upper 40's last night here in Florida and the fireplace kept the 3402 comfortable in fact the furnace never came on.
