Rv parks

My husband and I full time in a 2002 montana big sky we bought it about 6 months ago. We are from Iowa but are now in Lubbock Texas for my husband's job. We are having a hard time finding a place to set up a lot of places won't take rigs over 10 years old!!! WTH I really love our Montana and it has been really good to us! Just needed to vent!!!

The 10 year thing can be frustrating. We still have a few years to go on ours but I know buying a new one when we hit the decade is not in the budget. I know a lot of the Parks in Az have the 10 year rule but apply it with discretion. Some will ask for a picture. They want to make sure their RV Park doesn't start looking dumpy.
A lot of the "2nd" tier parks will allow older rigs.

That's new to me. I have never heard of such a thing as too old. Too nasty looking, maybe. I own a 2011 3455sa and it is kept in a pole building when not in use. It literally looks brand new. I have seen brand new units on dealers lots that are not in as good a shape as mine. Don't understand how they can use the year of a unit to determine its condition.

I've only had this happen 1 time when we had our 2002 Springdale Travel trailer and I told them it was in great shape, when I got there they let me stay. We had the trailer for 15 years and sold it when we bought our current 5th.

With the number of parks in the Lubbock area I am surprised you have not found one that will take an older rig. I also found parks with an age limit were willing to let you in if the rig was still in good shape.

The only ones I've ever seen enforce it on a rig in good shape are motorhome only parks.

We have a 2002 3295rk and it seems every year it gets a year newer. For example, this year it turned into a 2007 model year. It seems it is never over 10 years old. We have been asked what year it is, but after we show up nothing is questioned.

Seems to be an arbitrary rule that is put in place to make it easier to keep older poorly kept RVs out. But at the same time a rule that can be overlooked for an older RV that still looks good, if you just ask. Not all that unusual to see an older ragged looking RV that a park owner probably would prefer not to rent a site to.

Hi

Not uncommon.

We are trying to make up our mind about refurbishing our 2009 or purchasing new. I have removed the graphics and if we keep it we will put new graphics on making it look like a newer unit. LOL

I understand your issue, When we bought a lot in imperial wilderness, they asked what year our monty was before we bought and then physically inspected the outside when we brought it in before i could go to the lot we bought. I asked whats that about they said they didn't want old beat up campers in the park and i said what about that one sitting right there, it was a 70's looking one old and dirty and looked like (*&^*) and they said that was grandfathered in and could not do anything about it. Not only are there age issues but also length issues as we cant have anything over 40' ether.

In 30 years, only time we were challenged was a park in Fountain CO. They wanted to see our unit before we could go in there on a monthly basis, even though the unit was only two years old. More an issue in seasonal parks I think, than traditional campgrounds where folks come in for short periods.
