Highlands Hammock, Fl
We will be leaving the Keys near the end of this month and slowly make our way back to N Central Florida. We are stopping at Highlands Hammock State Park near Sebring on March 3rd. Have any of our members stayed at this park? If so, would appreciate opinions, pros and cons.
Thanks, Dee

Everything we have heard about this park is good. BUT you need to call and make sure that your unit is not to long and to tall. It is close quarters in there from what we have heard. We usally go to Silver River State Park. Also Kissimee River State Park is good. Thats closer to Highlands SP area if you can't get in there.

We volunteered at HIghlands Hammock in 2000/2001 for 3 months. Great park. I don't think you have to worry about size or height unless they have really reconfigured the sites since we were there. We really enjoyed our time there.

Nice park. Lots of room and places to tour. Also, the restaurant has good food at a good price.

WOW, does that bring back memories! I used to camp there (Highland Hammocks SP) in the 60's with my parents in their single axle Holiday Traveler. Sorry, off the subject I know.
40 years ago it was wonderful!

I can't resist joining with 4 beader to say that we first camped in Highland Hammocks in 1962. We are probably the generation of his/or her parents. It was a great park then and I'm sure it still is. Based on our experience we can't say about the RV accomodations--we were in a tent in those days.
