Removing drapes on 2006 3400 RL

Has anyone tried to remove the drapes? There seems to be Velcro at the top plus some kind of screw under the valance. Do you have to take the valance off completely? Any help would be apreciated

We have removed on two units to replace the day/night shades with wooden venetian blinds. Valance is held in place as described, and easy to take down and reinstall.
