Isolating Generator to Air Conditioner power

I am trying to isolate the power supplied to my air conditioner in order to run it with my Honda 2000 generator dedicated to only that appliance. I want to wire in a transfer switch near the circuit breaker panel, but at that location I don't know how to determine which neutral wire is associated with the Air Conditioner. I can locate the Hot wire but how do I determine which white wire to use? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks John Weber

Send a message via Yahoo to NCFischers
Follow the hot wire until you can see where it goes into the sheath (outer covering). There you will find the white wire. If your transfer switch only requires the hot wire to be connected to it, leave the neutral wire connected to the neutral buss bar and connect the neutral from the wire coming from the generator to the neutral buss as well.

I'm told when the A/C cycles on a hot day ... the Honda 2000 won't handle the load. The Honda seems to start the compressor up OK the first few cycles, but as the presures and heat build during the day, it just doesn't have the muscle.

I am hoping that the Hard Start capacitor will take care of that.
