Hydraulic Self Leveling System
For the first time my hydraulic fluid in the reservoir tank is low with all the jacks in the up position. What type of hydraulic fluid is used in these systems? Is it just automatic transmission fluid like what is used in cars and trucks? I should have already researched this and purchased some of it so that when it got low all I would have had to do is add it. Hind sight is 20/20.

Dexron 3/Mercon ATF
Mercon 5 ATF
Dexron 6 ATF
PetroBlend (Mason City, IA) PHO 0022S (synthetic group 3 base blend)
Bellman All Temp 22 (Bremen, IN)
Or any ATF or hydraulic fluid with a pour point lower than -42oC (-45oF)
Operation at air temperatures routinely below freezing, 0oC (32oF)
Mobil 1 full synthetic ATF
Royal Purple full synthetic ATF
Valvoline full synthetic ATF
Amzoil full synthetic ATF
PetroBlend (Mason City, IA) PHO 0022S (synthetic group 3 base blend)

I would be more worried as to where the fluid went! If the level in the tank has been good previously and is suddenly now low there must be a leak somewhere in the system and needs to be corrected.

My question becomes what fluid did Lippert use? And which of those listed can be mixed? Or does it matter? And great idea to find the leak. One of mine has a sometimes slight seal leak. My front left has a very small fitting leak that has stopped after several trips - strange, I know. The fluid makes enough of a mess to easily find a leak.

My tank was over a quart low and I had no leaks. It was probably under filled at the factory.

Thanks for all the replies
Once the rain stops I'll check to see if I can find any leaks. Hopefully not? I hope that it is just low from the factory. I can't remember if it was full when we took delivery? I should have looked closer then marked the reservoir with a sharpie when we took delivery. I appreciate all the responses.

The problem is, Lippert does not fill these systems. The trailer manufacturer is the one that fills the systems once they are assembled. Hydraulic oil of the weight specified by Lippert is all that is needed, and ATF is just hydraulic oil with dye and additives, and any of them can be mixed together for the simple hydraulics that is the leveling system and slide hydraulics on these rigs. These systems are not filled all the way up from what I've seen, as ours was low, but still worked fine, just no extra oil to cover a leak.

I have my in the shop. I relevel every two or three days and the left middle jack, after being stored for a month or two, would extend completely. The shop told me it did not have enough fluid and the manufacture did not work the air out of the system. Who knows??? Time will tell.
