Battery box

Does anyone have a source for a battery box to hold my future purchase of 4 Crown 6v flooded golf cart batteries. Understand that I may have to drill venting holes.

McIver,

I used two NOCO HM426 Dual 6V Battery Boxes. I got them online from Walmart. I believe they were about $50 each. They are very sturdy but I did need to add vents.

Lenny K has the hot ticket for a box to hold four 6V batteries. The Dyno boxes are wonderful. You will have to drill a vent hole but that is easily done. Use a PVC fitting to adapt the flex hose.

I have had my 2-6 volt and 2-12 volt batteries (wired up) without any kind of box for more that 3 years without any issues what so ever. I understand that batteries do out gas, but the front compartment they are in is hardly sealed and IMHO is more that enough ventilation for them.

Rubbermaid works....

9 years ago I put my two 6Volt batteries in a Rubbermaid bin, vented the top hose into the bin and a vent house out the bottom and through the lower floor and it's worked just fine. The lid unlocks and tilts up easily for adding distilled water. For 4 - 6 Volt batteries I suppose 2 bins would work if you have the room side by side and vented them both. A cheap solution that has worked well for me with no signs of corrosion in the compartment.
