Disk Brakes Install

We attended the National MOC Rally in Goshen. We bought the parts from the Performance Baking vendor. We were making our way back to Phoenix, Az. Performance Braking has an installer in Cochise, Az so we made arrangements to have the brakes installed there. Dennis Hageman has a beautiful property there. He has 30 amp hookups with water. We arrived on October 17th. Dennis did the install the next day and we left on 19th to head home. Dennis did a fantastic job. He also put a crossbar on our frame for added support. If you want disk brakes installed Dennis is fantastic!!!!!!

Congratulations That's the single best upgrade that you can do to any towed RV.

One question - did your installer use new caliper bracket bolts ? A guy on another forum found that while he had new bolts, his installer never torqued them to 35-40 lb ft and it cost him a new bracket, a new brake line and a day of a welder's time to fix the axle flange along with a couple weeks time waiting parts.

Our installer Dennis was so meticulous and has done 100’s of these installs. He seemed to have a torch wrench attached to his hand. We are confident that he installed correctly. We will give him a call due to your question.

He installed it over wheels on the frame. He said the frame takes a lot of stress and this would give it more flexibility. We heard this mentioned at several of the seminars we attended at the MOC Rally.

Was that cross member a MORryde X-Factor? He may have his own version as well which will probably work just as well. I've installed the MORryde X-Factor

Is your Montana under warranty? (Frame)
Just wondering if adding the cross member would affect that.

Our Montana is out of warranty but when we took the Morryde factory tour they said it was a good addition to our unit.

You will love the disc brakes. I did mine myself and added three MorRyde X factor braces.

Art, we had the disc brakes put on at an Escapees Rally down in Missouri this last summer prior to the Fall Rally. They were brought through Performance Braking also and they did the install right there at the Rally. They had several service techs available at the Escapade and put ours on out in the middle of a field where we were parked. The tech did a great job and while we were on our test drive an idiot pulled out in front of us and I had to make a panic stop. The tech looked a me and smiled and said "Well what do you think?" I just smiled and gave him a thumbs up and we continued test run. You will love those brakes and they really do improve the performance of the braking both in distance and time to stop the truck and the unit. Enjoy them and maybe we'll run into each other this winter since we'll be down in the Benson area.

Hello to all, Im sure our sales guy could answer this one, but we are waiting for the new double sink model on the way in 5 or 6 months.

Question is I know the Disc Brakes are available with the Legacy Pkg, but can you order them on the Montana without getting the full Legacy set up..

We might go Legacy but the Disc Brakes are a must have in my book..

Thanks Folks..

Check with your dealer. I think it is part of a "package"

Bill-- The disc brakes are only on the Legacy package and not on the High Country or regular Montana package. You cannot order them on a unit if it is not a Legacy package from what we were told at the Fall Rally a little over a month ago in Goshen, IN (home or birthplace of the Montana line).
