Curiosty question about leaf spring shackles

Somewhere here I asked about the correct length leaf springs. That question was answered, springs ordered along with a new wet bolt kit. This is far from my first set of wet bolts and have always been successful installing them. Today everything was installed though I still need to torque the fasteners.

OK, the question - with the MORryde soft equalizer, the shackles reverse - that is, point down instead of the normal up when the 5er is on stands, all 4 wheels off the ground. I have always manually yanked them back to their correct position. Do I really need to manually pull them back or will they correct themselves after a few miles?

I'd get a couple of floor jacks (or what you have similar) and make it right before you set it down on the tires. Assuming you have the center rubber shear springs ... did you check them for cracks while you were at it? Pay close attention to second paragraph.

If yours is like the CRE 3000 ... disregard.

Yep, that's what I've been doing. along with a pry bar. The shear springs were inspected yesterday as well as last year (2600 miles ago) about this time and were just fine except that one was assembled wrong

From what MorRyde has said in the past, if the shackles get inverted, is to run the nose of the camper up as high as it will go and they will usually pop and invert themselves. Several of my friends have had to do with this with toyhaulers and Roy had to do this with his 3790RD like mine after a weekend off pavement boondocking.

That makes sense as it more or less stretches the equalize to full extent
