Out of the Net for Surgery (BACK HOME)

Will be getting a new right knee in the morning. Should be back up on the net in four or five days and out camping in about six weeks. Rehab is a little longer for a knee than a hip from what I read & hear.
UPDATE 31 August): Got home around noon time today and will start out patient rehab on Wednesday. Already have the passive motion motion set up and began using it today. It will be great to get a good night's sleep again. Right now we plan on getting some camping in starting around 15 October. Thanks for all the words of encouragement and I have to admit, hip replacement is the easier route to go if you have a choice.

Tim,
You have our prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery. John is right on. Work the therapy. I have a knee and a hip. I'm happy I did get them. My knee recovery was quicker than the hip. Joe

Oh my Tim... take care and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I also hope you have the same luck that Jolu is right in the recovery time for the knee.

I hope you can get online sooner than 6 weeks! Just don't type with your knees and you should be back online sooner! Or if it helps... use the knees.

My dad, who is 83, just had his right knee replaced on Aug. 17th. He had his left done years ago. He was in the hospital for 4 days and then came home. No rehab. Of course, I came up from Houston to help out for a few weeks. He actually walked down and back up 13 stairs today. He is doing great! Yours and Waynes will go fine. Just work through the pain.

By now, the deed should have been done. Glad everything went well and get well soon. Oh, be polite to the nurses and don't scream at the therapists too much. Remember, NO PAIN, NO GAIN!!!!!!

Kathy has two titanium knees and walks like a hot young babe again. She walked out of the hospital on her own steam both times. Sometimes, it was difficult for her, but the results have been worth it. By the way, there's a reason why we have big pickup trucks - it's for ease of entry and exit for people with new knees. Good luck!

Tim,
We're glad you are home. Maybe we could meet somewhere (Myrtle Beach?)in October for a weekend. Hopefully, some other MOCers will join us.

Do your pre-op exercises to the max! Take the pain pills about 30 minutes prior to post surgery exercise. Don't plan on getting a lot of sleep. Keep your sense of humor! Lastly, good luck and let me know how it all turns out. Tim
