Question Wall, SD - Boondocking

Hi,

we want to boondocks south of Wall, South Dakota.
There is a "famous secret" spot near Hwy 240.

I am trying to gather Info if we can make it in and out with our Monty.
Has anyone here ever stayed there and made back out safe and sound?

Thanks,
Mike

The only place that likely could be used for boondocking appears to be the Sage Creek Campground, but that location is restricted to 18 feet or under. Don't see anything else unless it is very very secret. https://www.nps.gov/badl/planyourvisit/camping.htm

Cool

We will be there next month. From others I know with similar sized SOB’s they have had no problem getting in and out.

PS it’s not a secret anymore

We stopped at Wall Drugs last summer and it was a waste of time.

sunny07 we just pulled out of the Badlands and it’s hot as all get out. The other thing is there has been so much rain this year the mosquitoes are fierce!
Locals say never seen anything like it. Couldn’t sit out after dusk. Check on roads also there are some closed due to wash outs, 83 South into Nebraska is open but shouldn’t be 3 miles of soft freshly scrapped dirt and 30 minutes for pilot car to guide you through. We hit it dry thank goodness.

SUNY just beware of the prairie rattlers. They are everywhere. I’ve been there when it was cooler and they were all over the roads. Could t drive without running over them.

The secret is no more. This place is becoming more popular with everyone. Still extremely beautiful. The road in I was no problem though there were a couple of soggy spots. I guess it all depends on the time of year that you show up and the weather.
