I am looking at the TST System right now. Why would someone buy the "Cap" style over "Flow Through"? There is not much difference in price between two and it would seem quite inconvenient to keep removing Caps to add air?

I think the caps are a tad lighter than the flow through. I only need to adjust PSI one or twice a year at most. It takes but a couple seconds to remove the cap.

We have an older model of the TST and I take them off when we aren't going to use the trailer for awhile. This supposed to prolong the batteries. After sitting for several months the tires usually need a few lbs added to reach my 80psi. Are the newer flow through so you can add air without taking cap off? I like my non-flow through type.

Yes, the flow thru sensors allow you to add air with the sensors in place on the valve stem.

Cap system is easy to move from one camper to a new one.

also, if I remember right, the flow thru batteries can't be replaced by you - you have to send them in to get it done. Someone else can comment to correct this if wrong.

The flow thru sensor batteries are easily replaced. They do not need to be sent out.

The TST 507 flowthrough sensors just need a tiny Philips screwdriver to get the battery covers off, I think its a 00 philips, and just replace with the correct battery, check and replace the oaring if needed, and reinstall the cover. The sensors are not programmed, so they lose nothing. It is the dash unit that gets programmed to see the digital signal ID from the sensors. I installed the repeater on the wall behind the batteries and connected the ground to the frame and the hot to one of the terminals on the breakers. Its out of the way and never have to think about it. The batteries for the flowthrough sensors are the CR 1632, which I've had a hard time finding locally, so I just order them through Amazon.

For me, the unit I had was not very good. Weak signal. Never got a booster. You should get one. Receiver failed. replaced it. The charger failed in such a way that it blew fuses. Gave up on it. My next one will not be a tire minder. Batteries expensive locally. cheaper on Amazon.

When it worked I was happy.
