CBs

Getting ready to head out on a 4 month road trip. I bought a CB (yeah I know OLD school) and wondering about where to have it installed. Any suggestions?

You'd be surprised how valuable a CB can be on the road. I won't leave without one. As to where to put it, depends on how your truck interior is laid out. Experiment....

We got one two years ago and had it professionally installed by a place that also installs car audio. We don't use it a lot, but when there is a slow-up on the highway, it's a great way to find out what is happening. We got it mostly for emergencies in areas where there is no cell phone service.

Years ago (before cell phones) wife and I (and kids) were on our way north on I-5 in Calif. We were 1/2 way to no where and somewhere and our truck started overheating. We had a CB so I started calling on CH 9 asking for help. About 10 min someone answered and 20 min later CHP showed up and called for a tow truck.

Yes I agree....it may be 'old school' but it's worth having just for THAT reason. Got the CB and found a place near by to have it installed. Taking a 'road trip' in July for 4 months so it will get used if for no other reason just to talk to people on the road. Handle will be FROGMAN (long story behind that) so listen up and 'come back' if you hear me.

Thee is an artist in CA that uses from an as his professional name. Does bronze sculptures of frogs in various poses and we couldn't pass up his work.

Agree with Loneoak, stereo shop would be a great option.

There are also some decent handheld CBs depending on how you plan to use your radio.
