New range hood - now it's quiet!

My DW is HAPPY!!!

Whoopee

I just installed a Fabulous Operating Products range hood upgrade in our 5er. The new one on low can hardly be heard while each of the other two speed modes are way quieter then the original which sounded like a 747 on take off roll: http://www.fabulousoperatingproducts.com/

It also has an outside grill that doesn't have a flapper that falls off or is forgotten to open or latch as the new one closes off via a lever inside

While it was a fairly easy project, I do have to say that the step by step instructions and the thumb nail size photos supplied leave a bit to be desired and the actual fit in the hood needed some (minor) metal work to sit flush.

I bought direct with free shipping plus that saved the 14 bucks NY State tax that Amazon would hve charged me

Sounds like a nice upgrade Dave even if you had to improvise on the directions.

Nope. Not worth the effort, especially if you have to pull the hood down for complete access.

The original fan was a dinky 1" diameter single speed motor with a fan blade that looked like a 3 blade boat propeller. It looks like the same motor and blade the older trailers used in the bathroom that rattled and roared. The replacement motor is a couple inched in diameter, 3 speed turning a squirrel cage air mover. It also added a two level LED light - low night light and high a good over the stove cooking light.

That original is in the trash, waiting tomorrows dump run

Our unit has the fan built into the microwave but looking at their website their parts don’t look like anything that would fit. Is yours a separate range hood?

Yes, it is for a separate vent unit. These upgrades fit the Venline (the one we have)and Heng's.

Curiosity question - does yours vent outside or is it into just a filter (carbon hopefully) with no outside flapper vent cover. I know some of Keystone's other products have that type

Ours is built into the Hipoint microwave with an outside flapper you can’t reach from the ground
