Fuel went up 14 cents on Friday / Saturday morning. Talking to jobber who expects prices to come back down tomorrow if fuel is flowing in supply pipeline like he had heard (but not confirmed). On Friday morning he was told to expect 50 to 60 cent increase in wholesale gasoline price on Monday so this is good news for us. Diesel has had steady at 4.09 and 2 stations in town (4.04 at the other station(shell)). I did fuel yesterday on I-70 just outside Junction City and diesel there was 4.019..

Ozz,
Our diesel prices vary here. I have seen diesel at $4.19 in Drippin and Austin, but there are prices of $4.09 to $3.92 in Lockhart. We went into Austin today to see my nephew play Lacrosse, then to my brother's new house, then off to see his new farm in Lockhart. The farm is beautiful, but the land needs work to remove the famous mesquite trees that you haven't seen. Actually, you have seen tons of them going down to Padre. I took some pictures of a mesquite tree... need to find them and email them to you.
Gas prices vary from $3.59 to $3.79. It seems that the diesel prices are holding steady, but we saw $3.42 prices in San Antonio coming back from the RGV. Lots of stations here are not changing prices.

I saw on the news Friday I think, that OPEC will slow production because of the dropping price of crude. If they do, I would imagine short a lag time, then the crude prices may go up. Hope not, but that is their plan.
How much money do they need, anyway? Greed.

Boy OZz do I ever disagree with that...OPEC did not drop production..they went back to the production levels they had before our President went over there a few months ago and begged them to increase production over their levels to bail us out.OPEC said it would not work, that there was plenty of oil and our speculation and greed was the cause of the problem. OPEC will adjust production when the price drops to where they said months ago it should be..60/80$ bbl. The greed is right here in the good old USA and we are responsible for the financial mess the world is in.. The bad guys are right here in the USA. Oil is down to 95.77 this morning heading right to where OPEC says it should be and they are Merrily pumping oil and flooding the market. The first step in solving a problem is to identify the problem and the cause. The problem and the causes are right here in the USA. Our financial experts and speculators are the ones speculating that OPEC will decrease production..and they are the folks that should be going to jail. Other than that OZZ...We are good.. Take care and no offense on the disagreement.

Topped off one of our cars Saturday at $4.29 per gallon. Got home and told Doris things are looking up as diesel cost less per gallon than gas ($3.99).

In the fist minute of trading when the US market opened oil dropped 4.83 reflecting the over night trading in the rest of the world. As mentioned before trading does not stop at COB USA. It is now at - 5.35' it is best tracked here.
http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/com...rgyprices.html as there is no delay and they report 24 hours. It may be slow today as the site is overwhelmed. We have plunged the globe into a financial crises. We may not have been affected by the mortgage issue, or we thought not, but now we will all feel the pain and no one will be bailing us out.

Charlie's report from yesterday is the key to domestic availability and some price stability in many areas of the US after Ike. It's not a long-term fix but remember crude oil prices are coming down right now due to many US refineries not refining since last Fri/Sat period. What is key is when do our US refineries start pumping to those areas that are almost out of gasoline/diesel right not. That is key to stabilization for the consumer, now, not long-term. Prices without Ike would have dropped but instead increased to gouging levels in some Eastern US areas. Know too, that these Gulf coast refineries pump to certain regions daily over 1 million gallons of gasoline and without that consistency, some regional areas are not supplied. Dennis

"Shell's Pasenda gasoline terminal now open-
Shell Oil Co. says now that its Pasadena gasoline terminal is now open. The company is still running a safety review at its Beaumont terminal, which also is expected to open this afternoon."
"ConocoPhillips reports-
ConocoPhillips says its Sweeny refinery has power, but remains shut down as crews assess the extent of Ike-related damage.
Its Lake Charles, La. refinery is running at reduced rates as it continues its post-Gustav restart process. Power has been restored to ConocoPhillips' Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, La. after it shut down for Gustav, and the plant is preparing to restart.
The company says gas stations along evacuation routes in Southeast Texas have priority for restocking, and supply is ready.
However, distribution terminals in Pasadena and near Lake Charles remain closed pending power restoration. The company's corporate offices in West Houston have power, and will be staffed with critical personnel on Monday."

This morning's AAA report lists MICHIGAN as the the HIGHEST ($4.17/gal) ave reg gas price in the continental US, followed by GA ($4.16) who got their pipeline shut down temporarily. What's Michigan's excuse???
Our local station went from $3.82 last Fri to $4.48 today for reg. Diesel at the same station went from $4.24 to $4.68 yesterday
