Wrigley Field

We visited the famed “Wrigley Field” Home of the Chicago Cubs, yesterday and took the tour. That’s what they do when the Cubs are out of town. I can’t tell you the emotions I had as I stood in the visitor’s club room (locker room). Knowing that “The Babe”, Willie Mays, Ted Williams and many, many more of Baseball’s Legends were actually in this same room was overwhelming. And everyone remembers “Harry Caray” leading the park in “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during seventh inning stretches, stood in his press box, very moving. This park is unlike others in that it is in the middle of a residential area of downtown Chicago. No gigantic parking lot, nor hour drive out of town to get there. This is truly a neighborhood ballpark. Everyone arrives by train or public transportation. There are bleachers on rooftops that the building owners lease out to groups. Many of you may know that the scoreboard is the only manual scoreboard left in MLB. Three man crew runs up and down stairs inside to post scores. Many traditions left here still, like flying a white flag on it with a W, for a win, or an L for a loss. Lets the neighborhood know how they did that day. AND you could even buy the team franchise and field right now as it is “Up For Sale”. I didn’t have enough cash with me to do this and My checking account wouldn’t quite reach that far. Can you say $1.3 Billion? OH WELL! It was a great day, nonetheless.

Chicago is a place to see. Cubs ok if you're in for the 100 year thing. I like a reasonable team that can win atleast every couple of decades. South side Chicago White Sox for me.
