SEWAGE

OK bad way to start, I searched around, I know it had to be a topic prior to this.
with the roof vents open and the Fantastic fan pulling air out the RV opening the vent at the top of the stairs draws in sewage smell. Is there a way around this? I think it is from the roof vent of the Black tank. are the ventui covers I read about worth the investment or is it just keep that vent closed.

Was this a factory installed Fantastic Fan? I didn't think the OEM models would go both ways for this very reason.

I think with the air being pulled out of the RV this should not happen, but if the prevailing winds are blowing just right, it may. I think those swivel covers couldn't hurt. I have them for around $18.00

You may want to check the toilet. It may not be closing correctly as toilet paper etc...may not have completely flushed and gotten caught between the ball and the opening and the seal may not be completely closed which would causes the fan to pull the fumes from the holding tank into the trailer.

I'm also thinking you have a bad seal in the stool? You can replace it with a new Sealand bowl seal kit for $20.

Bob, you jinxed me! Now ours is doing the same thing. I am ordering one of those swivel vent deals.
Sue noticed it last night when we had the vent opened at the top of the stairs. She shut the vent; no smell.

I too have noticed that once in a while, think it has to do with which way the wind is blowing and the fact that the Black Tank vent pipe is located to close to the bathroom vent and the went at the top of the stairs.

Wal-Mart has the swivel thingy that attaches to the top of the vent pipe...they're about $18. They help.

When the fantastic vent is on at the same time you flush, the sewer gases just get pulled into the living area.
