Recliner failure

We have just had a recliner failure in our 2006 Montana 3400RL. A couple BB sized balls fell to the floor and what appears to be metal ball bearing retainers dropped to the floor too. The chair now won't tilt backward but will swivel and also has a pronounced tilt to the left. My back situation won't allow me to work on it right now but maybe this type failure isn't new and another Montana owner has experienced this failure. The two small balls that fell out are about the size of BB's. They are too small to be the balls that are used to allow the chair to swivel. Anyone else had this particular failure?

Yes I have. Both chairs were missing screws, nuts or bolts all over the place. They were falling apart and this was causing the little ball bearings to fall out, too. The ball bearings are for the swivel, it's just that there so many of them, you'd have to lose a lot of them before the swiveling stops. When you can upend the chair you'll probably see them. If you keep losing them, you will eventually have a problem.

In my case I was so miffed I went back to the dealership for a resolution. I documented every thing that I found wrong with these chairs (obvious manufacturing screwup). We hadn't had the rig that long and this was soon after 7.5 week delay to get a fridge replaced so this was now a return trip for some other irritating problem. I didn't want to wait several weeks AGAIN and told them so. The service dude and his manager felt so bad, they went out to the lot and stole new recliners out of another similar unit, replaced them with these crappy ones and gave me the new ones. Then they said they would deal with Keystone to get them replaced in the other rig so we could go on our way with these new ones. One of the few times the dealer came up with a decent plan.

These RV recliners are just not very good quality. Many other members have replaced them with Euro Chairs. These are equally as comfortable, lighter in weight and fit in where the recliners were.

I agree with replacing the chairs. I ordered two Lazy Boys and took out the chairs that came with the coach and storied them for the time when I sell or trade this coach, then I will put them back in and keep the Lazy Boys.

We traded ours out with two chairs from CHAIRLANDFURNITURE.COM. Our oem recliners were heavy and somewhat difficult to handle everytime we needed to close the slides. The replacement chairs are more comfortable and far easier to handle. Chairland was offering free shipping when we bought ours and might still be offering that incentive.
