The Grand Canyon - sans Montana

We are in Vegas staying at the trip courtesy of my employer and managed to make a day trip to the Grand Canyon, stopped at Valley of Fire park, plan to go to Death Valley tomorrow, and are generally having a great time. We are amazed at the number of RV's that we see around the area (seems like a majority are the rental types). We miss the Montana but can't complain at the sites we are seeing. Plan to spend a day exploring the strip and attending Minexpo. We are having an absolute blast (couple time - grandparents are watching the girls). I must mention that it is ironic being in Sin City and not gambling or drinking. The best part was walking through the casino (we are at Treasure Island) on the way to a local Church Sunday morning!!! Now how many can say they did that!! Ha Ha.

Bingo, glad you are enjoying the sites.

How about that traffic?

How long are you going to be in Vegas??

Enjoy

When we were in the West we also seen a lot of Rentals, most were or seem to be out of Cal. It was also interesting in some of the events we witnessed watching them set up at the camp site. Driving away with the awnings out it was for sure their first trip I guess. As for the Casino's we really enjoyed watching the players and how they spent their money, it was unbelieveable however the food in those places was very good. I don't do any gambling or drinking at all. But everyone should see those things. GBY....

Good to hear you are having a great time. We love to go to Vegas and have been many times over the last 20 yrs. And neither of us likes to gamble or drink. But there is so much to see in and around the city. The excesses of the casinos is just incredible. And the downtown light show is great also. We pick up an occasional show, but those are a little steep for my taste. But you can also watch some very good entertainers in the casino lounges for free. Good entertainers who are trying to make it.
You can still do Vegas fairly cheap. Harrahs.com for example has a "hot deals" button you can click on and find rooms for less than $75/night during some weeks. And it is located as near the center of the strip as you could want. The first time we went in the late 80's you could still walk across Las Vegas Blvd near Ceasar's without waiting for a light and without worrying about traffic!

Jackandh20,
The traffic is definitely an adjustment!! We are leaving to go back to the kids tommorrow afternoon after we return to Death Valley. DW has never been to California, so I thought that would be a good place for her to be introduced to the state (Giggle!!!!). Temperature is supposed to be 108 there tomorrow. Only bought a days worth of internet access (even it is expensive here - $13.99 for 24 hours). Did that so we could print our boarding passes and save a little time at the airport. Decided to sneak a post in as well!! Be back on the board after the return to the hills!!

Whoops forgot to mention about the food, we have eaten enough this week to last the rest of the year. Best meal had to be at the Arizona Room at the Grand Canyon, eating with a view of the canyon cannot be described in words or pictures, but if the requests come in I will post an album on our return!!

My first trip to Vegas many years ago was to a Billy Graham school of Evangelism. The Rev. Billy Graham and many other preachers were there. It was a bit strange to see him walking through the Casino. I heard more sermons in that week in Vegas (four to six per day)that any other week in my life. Many of the mininister of big churches of the time were there and preached. It was quite an experience for my who had never drink, smoked, or gambled.
