Replacing max air fans - Chewed cable (?)

Hope everyone is enjoying their end of summer. I’m just getting around to a long awaited job of replacing both of my maxx air fans. Warrant send two new fans.

Seems easy enough but where I usually run into trouble is with electric. What I noticed on this one if the cord that runs to the wall mounted control (like an Ethernet cord but I assume it has a different name if anyone can help?), has a pretty nasty tear in it. Looks like it’s mostly the outer coating I’m not sure if I could just wrap it but I’m going ahead and assuming the whole cable needs replaced. I kind of figured I could tie a new cord to this old one and pull it through to the wall mount, but I can’t pull more than a foot or so out before I run out of slack. I’m curious if there’s a different way to go about this or if I just need to try to work it for a bit longer.

Here’s a pic of said cable. https://imgur.com/a/VMVTed7

You guys are always the best and I appreciate any kind of help. Thanks in advance all.
