Drove thru Ft DeSoto campground and believe me you will not be disappointed. Not 100% sure but I believe every site is waterfront.
Here is a link to a bit about the campground and the fort.

They also have a message board. Not a very busy board but there is some recent activity. You maybe able to get some questions answered.

Thanks Glenn and Lorraine, We are looking forward to this trip, but were worried that our Montana would not fit the sites. The website doesn't tell you anything about the sites. We just picked one that looked nice. Have heard alot of good things about Ft.Desoto.

We drove through the park weekend before last. It is a beautiful park. It was highly recommended to us by some of our friends. It was everything they said it was. Our daughter is moving to Tampa, so, we'll be staying at Ft. Desoto very soon.

When I saw a photo of Fort DeSoto I was immediately set on going there but I heard that you have to make reservations in advance in person. Kind of difficult if you are just passing through if it's true. Better check first.
Oops! Just read Glenn's post with the url and they say that 'online reservations are now available.'
