North to Oregon, Washington

We arrived back home to catch up on laundry, mail, and family news and are heading north June 25 for Oregon to the Columbia River Gorge Resort. Anybody know anything about this area? Then after a couple of weeks we will work our way to Ocean Shores, Washington for another couple of weeks. We love to hear from those of you who have been in these areas and can give us info on what to see, some good places for great food, and what to avoid. We just returned from Ramona/northern San Diego area and member "tweir" gave us some great suggestions on what to see and things to do. It made our trip better than planned. That's what MOC is all about!

#29 Fans, I posted suggested areas to see in another thread an hour or so ago. If you don't find it let me know and I'll find and copy it for you. We were in the Portland (Fairview) area for a couple of weeks just last month. Beautiful area, lots to see and do. I hope you enjoy it.

When were you in Ramona? I assume that's the Ramona in southern California, not far from San Diego and Julian? We were in El Cajon (San Diego) back in March and drove up through Ramona and Julian (and Wildcat Canyon Road) to see the fire damage. Vicki has a cousin in Ramona. And we used to live in Poway, San Diego, and Chula Vista. Vick has brothers in Chula Vista. We enjoy visiting the area but not the traffic and crowds. Ramona, on the other hand, would be great.

HI member twier,
Sent you a private e-mail a few days back...did you get it?

Hi sreigle,
Can't remember seeing the info on the Oregon/Washington are that you posted but could be brain problems here! (Have aging deprivation syndrome of brain--losing it!)Would appreciate if you could send again.
We were in Ramona/Julian area June 1-9 and did tour around and see the fire damage. It has "greened" up a great deal but still is pitiful to see. Ramona is a nice little quiet town or so it seemed. We spent an afternoon in Julian checking out the shops and eating a "buffalo burger" and buying apple stuff. Found the fantastic Dudley's bakery in Santa Ysabel (ashamed to say we made 2 trips there!)and loaded up on their date nut and jalapeno breads.
We stayed at the Western Horizons Ramona Canyon Resort during the time and spent the days sightseeing, even "hit" the Barona Indian Reservation Casino and WON a few $$
Didn't get as far as San Diego but have been there before.

I hope you found the Julian Pie Company. Fantastic pie! They're famous for their apple pies, which Vicki had, but I thought their cherry pie was the best I've ever eaten.

Look here for the northern Oregon info (see page 2):

How could we forget to tell you about the Julian Pie Company. We visited the place (more than once)and brought home samples for the family. We do love to hit the places that specialize in local products and try them out. We're great customers!
