Hello John, although not an expert, we recently bought a 2012 3402RL. While doing my research on the different models one of the things I remember being different between the 3400 and the 3402 was that the 3402 had two "bathroom" sinks (one in the bathroom the other in the bedroom) and the 3402 also had the "full size" tub. I don't remember too many other differences. We really like the new trailer.

Guess you are asking for the difference between the 3400 and the 3402...Glenn pretty much captured the difference between the two. I would suggest you check out the floor plans shown on the Keystone Montana site (a button on the top of the MOC web page should take you there). Once you are familiar with the two floor plans, a visit to a dealer carrying the two would be in order. If you are trying to make a pick between two models, it is very helpful to be able to go back and forth to check and compare those models. In the end, the choice has to be yours. Regarding the rooftop dish, can't offer any insight. Good luck with your shopping.

Just remember, for the most part, if you have a roof top dish you will always need to park in the sun.

I must just be totally blessed, as I have yet to find a camping spot that our Winegard Traveler did not receive an HD signal. Some of the sites truly amazed me due to trees being directly in the line of site. Can't explain it, don't really wonder about it, just amazed that the thing works in places that I would never dream of it working. I even quit carrying our portable dish because of it.

Also, with those two sinks and bathtub, you gain two feet in trailer length also.

If you are looking at a new 2011 at this point the selling price should be around $48,000 max. The 2013s are out now. Not trying to tell you what to do, but some dealers will take advantage.

We will not say numbers because we feel that is not fair but we did not take a bath on trading in our 06 3400 on a 2013 3402 Big Sky. We got a fair price f or the 3400 and a fair price on the 3402. The difference was not a budget breaker.

We have the Winegard Traveler dish and absolutely love it. There are pros and cons of both systems - manual and automatic. As mentioned, your trailer needs to be clear of trees when mounted on the roof. To me, it came down to how you use your unit. We frequently pull in after dark and the last thing I want to do is go out after I've worked all day and spend a half hour in the dark trying to get satellite set up. Also, in the rain and cold, hitting that button to get satellite is a nice feature. Once we get retired and travel only in the daytime, it might not be a problem for us. It comes down to your situation. Get what's best for you.
