Bedroom Slide and Carpet Wear

Does anyone have a cheap/quick solution to the carpet wear created by the bedroom/bed slideout? I have a 2007 Mountaineer and we are not full timers so the slides are used frequently. The foot of the bed slideout rolls on the carpet with two small wheels. I've noticed the carpet is already showing signs of strechting and when the slide out is in for a long period of time significant indents are left from these wheels. Any suggestion?

try putting some small rugs down to cover the area when the slide rolls in and out. we use our Mountaineer the same way, not full-timers yet, so lots of ins and outs. carpet wear is one of those first noticeable things to go .... sigh.

I don't know who it was, but I saw a picture where they mounted the wheels on the floor permanently and the bed slid over the wheels. Looked pretty slick.
