San Diego RV Parks
We will be staying for 5 or 6 days in the San Diego area the last week of Feb. Any recommendations of nice RV parks are appreciated. We don't need a resort as most of our time will be taken up with sightseeing but would still like nice accomadations. Thanks in advance, Jim C.

Have researched and it looks like Chula Vista Rv resort tight on the bay is decent. I will let you know after Jan 30 as we will be staying there for a month. We have two kids 3yr and 1yr

I stayed at theChula Vista park and had a very good experience, clean, concrete pads just didn't care for location, but if you are sightseing, whats the dif. Also safe and good interior roads to ride bikes. Nicescenery. Might want to check out Mission bay rv park. Right on the water and across from Seaworld. Good walking and bike riding and close to everything, dont' know about the price. Sure it's not cheap, but security and gated. I stayed ther also, can't remember price. One more thing, don't stay at campland by the bay, you will be sorry unless you like to be squeezed in a spot and like to party.

San Diego is Motorhome City, they don't build much suitable for a 5er with slides.
Mission Bay is a tight squeeze and rather unattractive overall, but it is close to everything. Of course when we were there, my brother in law called me screaming "Don't go in the Water!". He told me to turn on the news and I was looking at an interview with the Mayor on the beach while the health department was posting signs with skull and crossbones on them because of a sewer leak out of the RV park and E. Coli detected in the water. The kids were dissapointed but I did get the back of our Monty on TV behind the Mayor.

Would recommend Chula Vista -- very nice park and convenient for sight-seeing. Had a back-in site which was good but the pull-thru sites seemed to have more room and next time we will get a pull thru. Transportation right outside the park gate to take you to Old Towne. Nice restaurant on the waterfront within walking distance from the park --. Les and Julie

If you have military priveleges there is Admiral Baker RV Park and Golf Club. No amenities and a little cramped, but right on a golf course. $17.00 a night as I recall, fairly tight spaces but it was near our son's home so it worked well for us.
This was in walking distance to the Charger Stadium on the N (?) side of town.....

Thanks to all of you for your response. "Adamsfamily" If you get a chance update me after you get there in early Feb. "Gitrdone", what about the location did you not like? Brad, one little RV park discharging in the ocean warrants a keep out of the water. You ought to see what 29 bazillion cabins with old septics can do to the Lake of the Ozarks, but yet no warnings. Go figure.

You are next to the water but you can't get to it, and if you did. It's mud on the banks. I just don't like the location. But the park was real nice.

Stayed three days this week at Chula Vista RV Resort and loved it. Went on the Blue Line to the Gas Light Dist. The Blue Line station was about a mile from the RV Park.

We just arrived at San Diego and are staying at Santa Fe RV park. We would not recomend it. Tight, crowded and it's right between the I-5 freeway and train tracks. We went through Mission Bay and it was a lot nicer and a LOT quieter than Santa Fe. If you have Passport America they both honor them. Most parks a little pricy in this area.

Thanks to all who responded. We are now at Chula Vista for a few days. Although a little pricey it is a great park. On second thought it may not be pricey for this area as I have not compared prices at other parks in the area. Very clean and staffed by really nice people. We like it so well already extended our 4 day stay to 6 days.

Back to report on Chula Vista. We stayed there for three weeks and had great time, the pool is very warm, the staff was great. There is a outside vendor that will come in and wash and wax your RV and I highly suggest it. The cost was only 225$ but everything is by hand and they took over 4 hours to do my Monty(very detailed orientated people). I think the company name is Vernon, but I will have to check with my wife. Been having computer problems so I am sorry for the late report.
