NEW HDTV FOR 2980RL

Became a little tired of having to leave the computer cupboard open on the entertainment center to work the satellite receiver.
Bought a 26" Panasonic HDTV and swivel mounting bracket.
Built a frame in behind so I could suspend the TV 4" above the shelve so I can put the Satellite receiver on it.
Will put a black rubber sweep above the TV and close in the sides beside the satellite receiver so you don't see the wires.
Didn't have to change the opening of the cabinet at all.

Just a note on installing the wall mount type brackets in your Montys. At our RV show this weekend I talked to Charles Wade, from Keystone. One of the things we discussed was the tv's they were installing. He said he tried the wall mounting system and they were breaking the backs off of the tvs. The mounting bracket into the frame was solid, but some of the tvs had plastic backs that would break with the constant jostling. I believe you can buy tvs that are specifically made for wall mounts but not all tvs are that way. Something to look into anyway. The other thing was that he was not aware of the cold issues with the LCD's and would look into that and possibly post a cold weather warning on the tv's.

John, You could probably make a living doing that professionally. Well, a small living anyway. Looks like Keystone could use your expertise. I would like to do that to mine when I get it out of storage.

Thanks for the info Phil,

This TV does have a medal backing plate under the plastic finish and mounts look pretty good.
I do want to come up with a way to lock the TV into place while driving down the road.
Maybe some kind of turn buckles ?? Something a little better then bungee cords.

We'll see what comes up, any Idea's anyone?....

Now I was looking for a heavy duty tow vehicle and found a great installation for a high definition television. These acronyms are killing me.
Very nice job John and good advice Phil.
Cheers,

John, that was a very nice job. The pictures are great.

You mentioned closing in the so the wires could not be seen. I see that you don't have the same Sat Receiver that I have. I have a Dual Tuner HD/DVR Receiver. After it was installed in a cabinet and played a little bit, it shut off and we got a "Over Temperature" screen. I had to set it on top of the TV. Now, no over temperature. So, just a word of caution, don't let it get to hot.

Good point Don,

The TV is only 3 - 4 inches thick so there is a fair amount of dead air space behind it.
But you are right, I'll have to think long and hard before I close it all in.
I guess there should be a gap at the top & bottom to let air in for cooling.

John you can still close it in, below the sat reciever install a 40mm or 60mm Computer fan with Vari control and turn it down to a whisper.

It will keep air circulating.
