2nd Air Conditioner
If I put a 2nd AC in my Monty, how is it controlled? I am prewired for 2nd AC already.

Hi Illapah,
The way I under stand it , the controls are right on the A/C unit itself. Like a window A/C unit.

I have one, and that's exactly how you control it.

You have to make sure you order the interior grill for the AC that has the controls as well as the air distribution vents built in. At least on Coleman and Dometic (Duotherm), this is a separate item.

We just put one in about a month ago. Brad is correct, you have to purchase the A/C and the interior component which is called the "box assembly". The controls to the low profile dometic unit we bought are directly on the unit itself. I have to stand on the bed and turn the thing off and on, since ours is in the rear bedroom. Hardest part is getting it up on the roof. Rest is a piece of cake.

Ditto, ours has control on the ac unit. Sure is nice to have the extra unit. Haven't needed the ac too much this week, but have used the additional fan quite a bit. Great investment.

Thanks all, I don't know if I want to try to install myself. I understand that the 'getting it on the roof' part is to be contended with as txkrumm said. Sometimes it is actually cheaper to let the dealer do it.....

I'm getting ready to put a 2nd A/C in but had a question for those of you who install the 2nd A/C unit yourself. Do you have to remove (unscrew) from the roof the vent cover and frame or can you install the unit by just removing the vent cover dome and crank assy ?
Thanks for any insite just trying to see how much work it's going to be !!

Kim,
You will have to remove the entire vent cover and frame when you install your a/c. My dealership gave me all the parts for my vent cover and frame back. It is sitting out there in the shed until I decide on what I am going to do with my coach.
