A/C Ducts

We have a 2017 3731FL and ran the A/C's for the first time last week. After awhile we noticed that we weren't getting much airflow. I read some past forums that said to turn the fan to high. I did that then heard a bunch of crap blow through the duct work. Any ideas how to remove it and where is it going?? Thanks for any help.

That crap is probably saw dust left over from construction. I had to open my AC housing to fix a water leak and vacuumed a bunch of sawdust. I also vacuumed the return air ducts....

My 2016 had partially collapsed return air ducts. I put a 10" X 1.25" piece of PVC in each of the return ducts (I pushed the in about 1/2 way between the vent and the A/C unit) and the airflow noticeably increased. If you do this, be sure to sand the end edges smooth as to not damage the vent when pushing them in.

Remove ac vent covers, stick shop vac hose in and suck away. Being a new unit, the sawdust will go round and round the race track ducting.

And plan on doing it several times as you shake things up during travel.

Sawdust

Opened my rear AC to fix a return air duct water leak and found a significant amount of sawdust in the pan. Seems like it should have been vacuumed during factory installation. Will probably climb up there again to inspect the front AC. Also installed some short lengths of PVC in the return air ducts while it was open. Surprised to see how much the return air ducts had collapsed - bad design.

Check your vents. Do they have a long neck on them and stick up past the ceiling into the ducts? If so, remove them until you can get home and to a dealer or order new ones online. The ones pictured stop a lot of the air flow. The newer style are the shorter ones and let air get through the vents.

we have a new 2017 and that happened to us and found the a/c units were not located properly on the roof of the trailer they had to be moved 4to5 inches, the air was going back thru the return on the roof. after putting unites in proper place not has plenty of air flow it did fix the problem.

If you have the long style, you should be able to cut them down with a pair of tin snips. It would save you the cost of buying new ones

Did you move them your self or take it to a shop. How did you discover this.
