Freezer frost

We're from Northern VA, so freezer frost build up is common with our high humidity. Now we're into the fifth week of our nine week jaunt into New Mexico and Arizona - currently in Phoenix - and have pretty much the same frost build up we had back home. We do make ice cubes, so is that the problem more than ambient humidity? I'm positive it isn't a leaky gasket since we haven't seen humidity levels over 40% for quite a while. Any ideas or suggestions?

been fulltiming for 4 years now and have had both Dometic and Norcold frig's and every few monthsI have to defrost them and yes making ice cubes makes more frost after I make a batch of cubes I put them In ziplock bags and that helps keep down on frost when I do defrost I turn off the fridge and get the hair dryer out and put it on medium heat and get it done in about 20 min no big deal

We spent the winter near Yuma last year, with the dew point one day at -7, and we still had to defrost occasionally. Especially on the side we make ice on.

We defrost ours about every 3 months. It really doesn't matter if we are in Illinois, traveling out west, or spending the winter in Florida.

Freezer Frost

Our freezer gets frozen frost on the back wall of the left side of the freezer. Is there a solution to stop this from happening?

Someone at the rally suggested putting those thin, flexible cutting boards (more like cutting mats - they come in assorted colors) against the back wall for easy frost removal. The rally was our last outing of the season before we head south in December, so I have not had a chance to test this. I have them in place now and will test when we get to Florida.

We have just accepted that our Norcold needs the same defrosting that the past Dometics have needed. We can usually make it 3-4 months before it overwhems the freezer unit.

Have always had to defrost, however the defrost cycle in our Dometic does slow it down significantly. Go four or five months before defrosting during our snowbird season in Florida. Wife is not concerned, she has me to defrost for her.
