Awning problem

Have 2003 Monty 3295RK. Have problem retracting awning, arms do not line up when retracted. Have had local shop check and supposedly align awning but did not help. Have to apply pressure on read arm toward rear of 5er to get arms to line up when retracted. Someone out there probably has easy fix or solution to problem.

Ok, arm position problem resolved with suggestion provided. Now, however, I have another problem. With awning retracted forward edge does not roll tight, rear edge works as advertised. Have run extend and retract cycle multiple times in hopes of fixing problem to no avail. I believe fabric stretched in such a fashion that forward end will not roll at same pace as aft end. Obviously this condition will not work with wind driving down road.

Looks like your awing fabric has moved. There are two screws that hold the fabric in place and if you remove them you can center the fabric again. You may need help doing this because it does not want to slide to easily. You have to hold the arm in place while tugging on the fabric. This is why the help is needed. It does look like your fabric has stretch some but this could be an optical illusion because of the winding of the fabric on the spool. Try the re-centering of the fabric first and if this does not work, you may need to buy a new awning fabric. If this is the original fabric that came on the awning it's more than likely time to replace anyway. Give the centering fix first then go from there. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

I agree with Rondo in that is appears your fabric has shifted. However the screws mentioned are at the rail attached to the camper. I don't think it moved there. It more that likely moved in the roller tube. The fabric for the most part should roll up at the edges on top of each other (like trying to reroll paper towels back on to the tube). Meaning that it should not veer off toward the front or back like the pic indicates. I would extend the awning all the way out and pull/push the fabric on the roller tube in the direction that it needs to go (little bits at a time). Some times when the wind picks up and the awning is flailing about, it will slide in the roller tube slot and cause this issue.

I recently shifted fabric in roller tube slot to correct arms mismatch when retracting awning. That worked for mismatch so I assume if I shift to correct current problem I will return to arm mismatch problem. I am convinced it is time to replace fabric. This is not original fabric as I had it replaced about six years ago. All input apprecieated.

I would remove the two screws in the rail on the rig side, then cycle a few times before putting them back in. Can't hurt. I agree with you that it is time to replace the awning again though.

The adjustments need to be made at the roller. Don’t ask me how I know.
