Sailun question

getting ready to buy these, but I thought there was supposed to be a T after S637? It's on simple tire and when I do the search and add the T it doesn't come up on their site.

I know this has been beet to death. But I tried searching on here but theres hundreds of pages on these tires. And I thought they were supposed to have a T for trailer after the S637 but I went ahead and pulled the plug on these. Shipped to my house and les schwab said $17 apiece Mounted and balanced. Spent all afternoon shopping and these were $200 under the lowest

Don't know if it's too late but I just checked the price this morning for the same tire at Simple tire and saw the same price quote of $131.93. There is a sale promotion that runs through the end of August for 10%off by using code SMR17TRK at checkout bringing each tire down to $118.74. Hope you can still qualify for the discount if you already ordered and didn't use the code.

The Sailun tire is a S637, which is the model of the tire. There are now two sizes, the 80 series and the 85 series. Both of those tires are ST, Special Trailer, so which ever one of the sizes you bought, they are both good. The original size, the 85 size was an LT tire, still exactly the same as the new ST tire, just Sailun dodging an import tariff that is now imposed on LT tires, but not ST tires.

Mel B., I'm not as knowledgeable as most of the people on this forum, but there is a lot of discussion about the pressure ratings of wheels with the different model years of the campers. Before buying those 110 psi tires you may want to determine the psi rating of your wheels to make sure your rims are compatible with the 110 psi tires.

Yes I did get the discount, but but with shipping and the FET fees it raises from the price you see when you move foreword with the purchase I payed $149.50 each. still even with mounting and balance it's cheaper then Big-O or Les schwab.
Quantity Price Total
Sailun S637 235/85R -16 - 235/85R 16 - L (245.2 lbs) 5540993 4 $131.93 $527.72
Commercial Tire Summer 17
Shipping
FET
- $52.77
$89.01
$34.04
Total $598.00
And I did stop by les schwab with my trailer the guy looked under the trailer at the back of the aluminium rims and said they are rated for 110PSI I hope he's right. I went all under there later with a flashlight, and couldn't find anything. We'll see soon. Lots of posts on here about people running these tires at 85 psi?
Also the tires that are on my trailer were installed by the origenal owner. they look like new. I'm just not willing to go on a long trip with these. I've never heard of the brand they say "2 PLY" but I'm sure I'll sell them for $50 each they look like new, just not willing to take a chanch with them on my 5ver.

I just replace all 5 tires on our 2009 3075RL with Sailun S637 235/85R-16
$779 for the tires.
$100 for mount and balance.

I had one Marathon that had started wearing large time on the inside so I swapped it for the spare last year. All 5 were only 5 years old. It turns out the tire had separated internally but had not come apart. I am glad I no longer have the Marathons on the trailer. I may have paid to much but I'll sleep better while towing from now on.

I don't think you paid too much.

I agree with Capt. John, you didn't pay to much, you know the prices are all over the board. And how much time you want to spend. I spent a few hours calling all the main tire shops in my county. I have the 235/85x16 so Big-O in healdsburg ca. $875.66, Big-O in Santa Rosa Ca. Sorry we can't get them. But your Healdsburg store said they can get them? Sorry We can't. okay.
Big-O in Rohnert Park Ca. $806.00 So I asked you can get them? of course she said.
Les Schwab Windsor Ca. We can only get the 235/80X16 for $1190.22
Simple tire on line with the 10% coupon and no tax delivered to my house for a total for the S637 235/85X16 $598.00 Now I have the luxery of waiting another week or so, because were home and not sitting somewhere with a bad tire. So When they get here I'll hook up the monty have my son come over and throw the tires in my truck and drive 2 miles to Les Schwab and for $20 a wheel have them mounted and balanced. For a grand total of $678.00 then I will take a picture of my old tires list on Craigslist and sell for $50 each. Bottom line is you get the deal that works best for you and the situation your in while tire shopping. Now If I would have paid Les schwab the $1190.22 then I would be the first to say I got screwed. Probably the hardest thing about this was trying to make my wife understand why we needed new tires when the tires on the rig look like new, with a 2 ply side wall. ( I didn't buy them )

Think that is tough~~ wife cannot understand why a brand new camper only goes from the dealer to the tire shop for new tires before anywhere else.

I would double check the psi rating on your tires. I had a 2006 2980 and it had the aluminum rims. They were only 80 lb. pressure.

Yeah I will go look again, like I said the guy at Les schwab said they are 110. But later I couldn't find anything, (Hot out, Concrete very hot) but I looked with a flash light on the right side rear. (the same place the tire guy did) I'll go out now with a creeper and a good light and double check. I hope your wrong.

Montana dealer said they are using the same wheels across the line now. All Montanas and HCs have same wheels no matter if shipped with LR E or LR G tires in 2017 he said. Sounded good so I contacted the manufacturer of the wheel, yep ~~ 110 rated.

When we had our Sandpipers, my wife heard me complaining about the Chinese junk and didn't think anything about it until her parent's 5er had the side destroyed by the same tires. Then it was a must on ours. Since then we've ran 14 ply tires on our other Sandpiper and ordered them on the Montana. We were at our dealership looking around on Friday and it is great to see a lot more manufacturers put G rated tires on them coming from the factory.

So I found nothing on the Rims. Then my son stopped by and said let's pull one off. So he pulled one off and on the rim behind the brake drum was 80PSI, First thought, I'm screwed. but I ordered them at 6:30 P.M. pacific time on Friday night and they are back east so they were closed until tomorrow 6:00 A.M So I sent an e-mail telling them I need to cancel my order. So now I need to find the next best tire out there for my 80 PSI aluminum rims, Are start shopping for different rims. Any thoughts?

Get the rims. On My SOB I would not spend the money for new rims and continued to have to use shabby tires (and I tried them all...E rated) and continued to have blowouts or tire problems. I took one trip with this Montana and the China Bombs and then got Goodyear 14 ply and felt safer ever since. It's cheaper in the long run and much less hassle and problems and no insurance claims for blowout damage. It's only money....if you can do it , spend it!!

Unless the previous owner(s) changed the rims on your 2955, you have 3120 lb. 80 PSI rims on your 5,280 lb rated axles. By a good E rated LT tire (Michelin Ribs, Duravis 250 or similar) and be done with it.

FYI According to the Sailun Tire information Article#5540992 ST235/85R16 129/125L

You are good to 3640# each tire at 80PSI for the E tires.
Maybe you should keep the order active. Sailun does not say you have to run them at the max 110PSI.

I was Just looking on line at prices on new aluminum rims and they said that the dot law determins the PSI of the rim. And they had 3 choices of valve stems for 80 to 110PSI.
I'm thinking if the tire say's 110 PSI then it should be run at 110 PSI???
I really want the Sailuns I'll never be maxed out on that much load wieght.
