Where to go for axle alignment
Can anyone recommend a place to go near Orange County California for an alignment. I have been calling truck shops and can't find anyone who does fifth wheel travel trailers.

google maps
Go to google maps with Los Angeles or Orange County centered on your computer screen and search for "truck frame and alignment shop".
Several will pop up to get your research started. I tried searching central Texas just to test it and it worked. I had axles realigned at a "truck alignment shop" north of Waco several years ago, and that shop still shows up with this search.

This is where I show my lack of knowledge with 5th wheels, why do you need to align the axles? there arn't tie rods and ball joints under there, are there?

I had unusual tire wear and there could be only one reason for that. I took mine to a alignment shop and they fixed it. Cost me about $200 I'm in Norcal

Rick-- In most cases you have your axles aligned on the Monte because you are getting excessive tire wear. This can be caused by numerous things but the most prevalent reasons/causes are turning a corner to sharp and the Monte's tires go over a curb OR the hitting of those BIG potholes that are all over the highways and byways of our glorious road systems here in the US. There is no need for tie rods or ball joints on these puppies to become worn or loose here. I've had my axels aligned twice now and it was because of the stupid pot holes I've tried to miss but couldn't avoid. I took it to a big rig frame and alignment shop here locally and they did the job both times in less than four hours. It's quite a procedure they go through but it sure helps on the tire wear and etc.
On another subject but I won't get into that now-- I also have my tires on the Monte balance. They have to be lug balanced rather than spun balanced. I personally have my tires balanced with the beads and this keeps them balanced continually and there are no lead weights put on the rims. This also cuts down on tire wear.

My tires on our 3402 RL were wearing badly, even after rotating every 2-3 K miles, so the local tire shop recommended we get the axles aligned. We drove it to Mesa for the alignment. It cost us approximately $450. On our next trip I noticed the tires were still wearing badly. I took it to a different tire shop and he said the tires put on the new RV's are to just get them out the door, so he talked me into all new tires. That stopped the problem. By the way, Costco has RV tires and they wear great and have a good warranty.

Yes I did an Internet search and called many shops and was informed that they do not align RV trailers. I did notice that the axle nuts on the rear axle were slightly loose so I adjusted them properly and we’ll see if that remedies the problem.
