honda 7000

Hi basic question I have the 2019 hc 374 with 2 ac,s. I have a honda 7000 that ran my other trailers ac,s fine but wont run these 2. It keeps kicking out on overload. I was told to buy the 4 peg 30 amp twist and run it on 120v240v switch . Or should I leave it on 120v

Honda EU7000i? Which receptacle on the Honda are you plugged in?

It should run both on either of the 30amp receptacles. Easier on the 120/240V 4 wire outlet though. Make sure your water heater and refrigerator are turned to propane. Don't start both A/C units at the same time. Let one kick on for a few minutes, then start the other.

To utilize the Genny's full capacity you do need to get the adapter and use the 120/240 volt 30 amp output. That Genny is the best of the best in my mind.

Our Onan 5500 will run everything without a problem, so that Honda 7000 shouldn't have a problem if you're drawing power from both legs. If you're only drawing power from one leg, then I can understand the overload.

I think the receptacle that is marked 30 amp is a 120 volt receptacle and likely not enough for both a/c units. Is there another outlet that is tagged 240 volt?

Have you eliminated the possibility of the second A/C being the problem?
Started it (the second) by itself? Or on shore power?

You can also try turning off the the breaker to the converter/charger.... Or turn off all breakers except the two to the A/C units. Your batteries would have to be charged and battery switch turned on to supply power to the thermostats/circuit boards for this to work.

I'm assuming you don't own a multi meter with amp clamp?

The AC in my Motor Home ran and put out cold air but was pulling twice the amps it should have. So the AC could be the problem.

I've seen post where two - Honda 200 units will pull 2-ac units - think there is some other issue - can you check amps on each phase? o you have an EMS that monitors that?

Well I switched back to the 30 amp plug on 120 with adapter to 50 plug they both work fine and the fridge on electric only drawing 4000 on the meter. For some reason the other 4 prong plug with my 50 amp plugged in will not start them. I was told it was easier on the equipment to run it on that plug. Even honda guys don't no

gen questions

the honda 7000 if using the 3 prong outlet is 30 amp. in order to get the power to run both ac fridge etc will need 50amp the 4 prong but do not run the switch in 240 leave it in 120/240 position this will give you120 50 amps. your ac will not start in 240. the other thing to note is not to switch between the 120/240 and 240 with the generator ru ning.

Had same problem with same generator. The Rv has both ac’s on the same leg. Look at you circuit breaker to confirm. I opened it up and switched it with the dryer. Now one ac is on each leg and no more problems.
